Professional Civil Engineer – Municipal Services

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Professional Civil Engineer to join our Cape Town office and lead a civil engineering design team within a consulting environment. The role involves managing projects from feasibility through to close‑out while acting as the primary technical liaison for clients, contractors and authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead private and municipal civil engineering projects and serve as the main client liaison.
• Prepare feasibility, design, tender adjudication and project close‑out reports.
• Develop technical specifications, tender documents and manage tender processes.
• Conduct site progress meetings, technical minutes and site inspections.
• Oversee the full project lifecycle, including contract management and delivery.
• Maintain BVi design standards, drawing quality and technical specifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and support skills development within the team.
• Contribute to departmental planning, forecasting, invoicing and staff management.

Required profile

• BEng or BSc Eng degree in Civil Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) with ECSA – non‑negotiable.
• Minimum 8 years post‑graduate experience in a civil engineering design office.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Pro‑active, self‑starter attitude with experience in report writing and stakeholder liaison.
