Design Office Manager

About the role

The Design Office Manager will lead a team of civil design engineers at PERI's Cape Town branch, delivering technically effective and cost‑efficient formwork and scaffolding solutions for both standard and complex projects. The role involves direct client interaction, technical consultation, and ensuring the highest quality of design output.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the complete formwork/scaffolding design process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with PERI engineering directives.
• Review and approve all design deliverables, sign‑off on PR when required, and monitor project progress in weekly resource planning meetings.
• Provide technical consultation to sales and clients, participate in negotiations, and communicate PERI technical strategies to the design team.
• Develop and monitor training programmes for design team members and assess their skill levels.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of formwork or scaffolding design experience, with proven team‑leadership capabilities.
• Degree or National Diploma in Civil Engineering; driving licence; progress towards professional registration (e.g., PrEng, PrTech).
• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal abilities, with fluency in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PERICAD / CAD software for design work.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Hands‑on knowledge of formwork and scaffolding design processes and civil engineering principles.
