Senior Professional Structural Engineer – Cape Town

About the role

Lukhozi Consulting Engineers is seeking a Senior Professional Structural Engineer or Technologist for its Cape Town office. The role covers planning, design and contract administration of engineering and building projects from inception to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and administer contracts for building and engineering projects, including preparation of calculations, specifications and tender documents.
• Lead internal project teams of designers and draughtspersons, manage resources, and mentor junior engineers and technologists.
• Provide input to cost estimates, review technical work, and ensure quality of deliverables.
• Conduct structural condition assessments, prepare reports, and handle day‑to‑day contract administration on site.
• Address technical queries, lead site and technical meetings, and support project safety and environmental matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural focus.
• Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist.
• At least 10 years post‑registration experience in planning, design and contract administration of building and engineering projects.
• Experience managing design teams and delivering high‑quality calculations, drawings, schedules and reports.
• Strong client focus and ownership of projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Master Series or Prokon.
• Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
• Experience with BIM software such as ACC Docs, ACC Build, Revit and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of design engineering codes and technical standards.
