Production Manager – Johannesburg

About the role

We are seeking a Production Manager to lead all production activities at our glass processing plant in Johannesburg. The role ensures efficient, safe, on‑time manufacturing while meeting quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage daily, weekly and monthly production schedules, optimizing machinery, labour and material utilisation.
• Oversee core processes such as cutting, edging, tempering, laminating and IG unit operations, ensuring smooth workflow and minimal downtime.
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures to reduce defects, rework and waste.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, conduct safety audits and promote a strong safety culture.
• Manage supervisors and operators, plan shifts, overtime and manpower, and handle training and disciplinary matters.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to keep equipment serviced and reduce breakdowns.
• Control production costs, track KPIs and drive cost‑saving initiatives.
• Prepare production reports and maintain accurate records.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Production Management, Engineering or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a management role.
• Experience in glass processing is highly advantageous.
