Process Engineer II – Gas Loop Plants

About the role

The Process Engineer II provides engineering support for Sasol's gas loop plants, including ATR, Rectisol, Ammonia and fuel‑gas blending units. The role focuses on protecting and improving production volumes, product quality and environmental compliance through monitoring, troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain technology knowledge of ATR, Rectisol and Ammonia gas loop plants.
• Design and implement plant monitoring systems to detect deviations that could affect production, quality or equipment integrity.
• Lead problem‑solving activities, generate improvement ideas and execute short‑term volume protection and long‑term continuous improvement plans.
• Initiate, design, and commission modifications and capital‑expenditure projects, ensuring compliance with the Management of Change (MOC) system and project execution tools (Sciforma, ARC).
• Perform technical calculations for design and troubleshooting, referencing recognized standards where required.
• Support shutdown planning, ensuring process integrity is restored and critical projects are incorporated safely.
• Contribute to capital budgeting and the 10‑year rolling capital plan.

Required profile

• Experience working with gas loop plants such as ATR, Rectisol or Ammonia units.
• Familiarity with plant monitoring, MOC procedures and capital‑budgeting processes.
• Ability to lead technical modifications from concept through commissioning.
