Process Engineer I – Ammonia Value Chain

About the role

Sasol is seeking a Process Engineer I to support the ammonia and ammonia‑derivatives value chain at its Sasolburg site. You will help meet production targets, provide technical engineering support, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring safety and equipment integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Define and monitor the optimum operating window (OWAP) for the value chain.
• Translate loss accounting data into actionable improvement plans.
• Analyse performance drivers, constraints and levers across upstream and downstream units.
• Support shutdown activities, ensuring equipment integrity and integration of improvement ideas.
• Monitor energy usage, plant reliability, volume and unit cost.
• Provide technical input for VPP, HAZOP, PFD and MFD reviews.
• Contribute to operating manuals, startup/shutdown procedures and training material.
• Coach junior engineers and technicians and participate in peer reviews.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc Chemical Engineering degree.
• 3+ years of relevant process engineering experience.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Professional Engineer or Professional Candidate Engineer status.
