Principal Developer: Digital Delivery

About the role

The Road Accident Fund's mission is to provide timely and equitable assistance to people affected by motor vehicle accidents through social benefits. Reporting to the Manager: Digital Delivery, the Principal Developer develops new applications and systems and enhances and maintains existing ones in line with business requirements. The position is based in Centurion.

Key responsibilities

• Accept requirements from analysts, design systems to architectural standards and develop, enhance and maintain programs daily
• Keep program records in an application register and configuration management, draw logical flow charts and document programs and training manuals
• Facilitate software testing and quality assurance, fix bugs and defects, and align with DevOps, CI/CD documentation and processes
• Design database structures in line with relational database principles
• Develop interfaces, build and maintain automated workflows, and contribute to native or cross-platform mobile apps
• Help develop departmental policies, procedures and processes, and stay current with policy and practice
• Report on requirement progress, compile development activity reports, and prepare proposals, briefings and presentations
• Manage stakeholder relationships and handle enquiries from internal and external parties

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in an IT-related qualification
• 5 to 7 years of experience across the full software development lifecycle
• Experience writing application integration programs, UML, Power Platform solutions and RESTful API integration
• Added advantage: Microsoft Certified Application Developer, ITIL, cloud, Java, Power Platform certifications

Required skills

• Client-server and object-oriented environments, relational databases, HTML, XML, web services and SOA
• Version control (e.g. Git) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
• Cloud platforms (AWS, MS Azure) and Power Platform; SharePoint Server exposure
