Principal Developer: Customised Platform

About the role

The Road Accident Fund provides social benefits to people affected by motor vehicle accidents. This Principal Developer position reports to the Technical Product Owner for Customised Platforms and is responsible for developing new applications and systems and enhancing and maintaining existing ones in line with business requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Accept requirements from analysts, turn them into technical specifications, design systems to architectural standards and keep program records in the application register and configuration management.
• Work with UX/UI designers, write help procedures, run unit testing and debugging, fix bugs and support troubleshooting.
• Store source code safely in a repository with version control and align with DevOps, CI/CD documentation and processes.
• Design database structures according to relational database principles.
• Develop interfaces, build and maintain automated workflows, and contribute to native or cross-platform mobile apps.
• Help develop departmental policies, procedures and processes, and track progress of implemented requirements.
• Prepare reports, proposals and presentations, and manage stakeholder communication internally and externally.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in an IT-related qualification.
• 5 to 7 years of experience across the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience writing application integration programs and using UML.
• Added advantage: Microsoft Certified Application Developer, ITIL, cloud, Java certifications.

• Client-server and object-oriented environments, relational databases and web services.
• Service-oriented architecture, HTML, XML and SharePoint Server.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, MS Azure) and Power Platform.
