PLC Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced PLC Engineer to design, develop, commission and support advanced automation and control systems for a variety of industrial projects. The role involves working on cutting‑edge automation solutions and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver reliable, high‑performance control systems for manufacturing and process environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and program PLC control systems for industrial automation projects.
• Develop HMI and SCADA applications for plant monitoring and control.
• Configure industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, Profibus, OPC).
• Perform system integration, FAT, SAT and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot PLC hardware, software, instrumentation and control system faults.
• Create control philosophies, functional design specifications and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Software Engineering teams.
• Support machine upgrades, retrofits and process optimisation initiatives.
• Assist with electrical panel design reviews and I/O verification.
• Provide technical support to production and maintenance teams and ensure compliance with electrical, safety and automation standards.
• Travel to customer sites for commissioning and technical support as required.

Required profile

• BEng, BTech, National Diploma or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic or Automation Engineering.
• 3–8 years of experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
• Experience in manufacturing, mining, FMCG, automotive, water treatment, energy or process industries.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.

• SCADA platforms: Ignition, WinCC, AVEVA Wonderware, FactoryTalk View.
• Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and servo/motion control.
• Industrial robotics integration.
• Instrumentation and process control.
• Industrial networking and fieldbus technologies (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, Profibus, OPC).
