Pharmacist Assistant (Post‑Basic) – Norwood

About the role

Dis‑Chem Pharmacies are seeking a reputable Post‑Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for their Norwood store. You will dispense medications, provide pharmaceutical expertise to patients and healthcare professionals, and ensure the safe and effective use of prescription medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense prescriptions, prepare and label medicines, and give patients clear usage instructions.
• Assist customers at the dispensary, self‑medication counter and front‑shop, including medical‑aid cost explanations.
• Process paperwork for medical‑aid claims, correct rejected scripts, and maintain accurate customer profiles.
• Control stock levels, report shortages, and support bi‑annual stock takes.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to Dis‑Chem policies, SOPs and health‑safety regulations.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric and a Post‑Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Willing and able to work retail hours.
• Additional language knowledge and familiarity with retail/FMCG operations are advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Unisolv SAP.
• Experience using E‑Scripting.
• Competent in Microsoft Office and basic numerical skills.
