Experienced Cardiac High Care Registered Nurse

About the role

The Life Entabeni Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to work in the Cardiac High Care unit. Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will deliver holistic, high‑quality nursing care to critically ill patients and support the hospital’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quality basic and specialised nursing care to critically ill patients.
• Communicate continuously with patients and families about condition and care plans.
• Administer medication in line with ethical and legal frameworks.
• Review and comply with internal policies, protocols and quality management systems.
• Advocate for patients, coordinate with case management and notify doctors of any concerns.
• Manage stock, staff hours and leave in accordance with unit policies.
• Maintain infection control standards and complete SHEQ alerts and incident reports.
• Ensure equipment is functional, report faults and educate staff on proper utilisation.
• Maintain accurate records in compliance with legal and ethical requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or diploma in Nursing (midwifery advantageous).
• Proven experience in a High Care setting.
• Strong customer orientation, energetic, well‑organised and able to work under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a team‑player attitude.
• Willingness to work flexi‑hours and participate in the call system.
