Pharmacist Assistant (Post‑Basic) – Fixed Term, Randfontein

About the role

Dis‑Chem is seeking a Post‑Basic Qualified (PBQ) Pharmacist Assistant for its Randfontein store on a fixed‑term basis. You will dispense medications, provide pharmaceutical expertise to patients and healthcare professionals, and support safe use of prescription medicines under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense and label medicines accurately, verify prescriptions and patient details.
• Assist with compounding, preparation and re‑packaging of both non‑sterile and sterile medicines.
• Manage stock control, ordering and distribution of Schedule 1‑5 medicines.
• Provide patient counselling on medication use, medical aid costs and health promotion.
• Process paperwork for medical scheme claims and ensure correct authorisation for chronic, HIV and oncology medications.

Required profile

• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council as a post‑basic pharmacist assistant.
• Willing and able to work retail hours in a pharmacy environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Unisolv SAP.
• Experience using E‑Scripting.
• Competent in Microsoft Office and basic numerical tasks.
