People Advisor

About the role

Dis‑Chem Pharmacies is looking for a People Advisor to join its People & Culture team in Bloemfontein. The role serves as the trusted link between People & Culture Operations and Business Partnering, ensuring HR processes, data and frameworks are applied consistently across the multi‑site organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the bridge between operational and strategic People & Culture delivery, translating workforce insights into actionable solutions.
• Guide people managers in applying policies, processes and frameworks, using data to highlight trends and drive consistency.
• Provide day‑to‑day advice and coaching on performance, employee relations and engagement, escalating complex matters as needed.
• Support implementation and monitoring of performance and development frameworks, partnering with Learning & Development.
• Coordinate workforce, succession and mobility planning, ensuring data accuracy for business review.
• Utilise workforce metrics and people analytics (turnover, absenteeism, tenure, pipeline readiness) to inform decision‑making.
• Assist with change, transformation and culture initiatives across the organisation.

Required profile

• Matric or equivalent; National Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology or related field (or in progress).
• 3–5 years experience in an HR advisory, coordination or generalist role within a large, multi‑site organisation.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EE, BBBEE, SD) and compliance standards.
• Advantage: Honours degree, professional HR certifications (SABPP, Prosci, etc.), experience in workforce analytics and transformation projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HRIS platforms such as SAP, Oracle or SuccessFactors.
• Workforce analytics and data‑storytelling capabilities.
• Experience generating HR reports and dashboards.
