Payroll Team Lead (Fixed Term Contract)

About the role

Vivo Energy is hiring a Payroll Team Lead on a fixed-term contract in Cape Town. The role manages the work of Payroll Coordinators and Payroll Administrators and ensures the accuracy of payroll, benefits and accounts through data integrity and effective business controls. It also oversees the maintenance and running of the relevant OU payrolls so they remain compliant with legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the completeness and correctness of all payroll entries made by the team, in line with policy
• Carry out audit functions for SA and affiliates covering payroll and benefits, including internal and external audits, SARS, the Labour Department, COIDA and BBBEE
• Prevent and clear reconciliation items by capturing payroll information accurately and on time
• Keep the payroll system aligned with legislation, including neighbouring countries, through regular UAT and checks
• Monitor, analyse and report on payroll and benefits activity, recommending intervention plans where needed
• Ensure monthly and annual reconciliations and payments for neighbouring countries are done on time, including issuing tax certificates
• Build strong working relationships with OU personnel, GBS and the central team, as well as external stakeholders and service providers
• Develop the team's capabilities and drive high performance delivery
• Champion COBE, POPI and ABC policies, enforce company procedures and the Treasury policy, and ensure compliance with the Manual of Authorities

Required profile

• HR diploma or degree
• 5 years' experience in payroll and benefits
• Payroll accounting experience
• Overtime work may be required
