Patient Safety Manager

About the role

The Patient Safety Manager will lead the hospital’s safety culture, driving improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role focuses on identifying, reporting, and analysing patient safety events to enhance outcomes across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, report and investigate patient safety events using systems analysis methodology.
• Lead the hospital’s safety culture through Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives and risk mitigation.
• Assess training needs and develop programmes to embed a safety and quality improvement mindset.
• Manage clinical audits, accreditations and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including medico‑legal investigations.
• Provide interim support for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) management when required.

Required profile

• Professional nursing qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of hospital nursing experience.
• At least 1 year experience as an IPC link nurse.
• Risk or patient safety management qualification is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with safety event management systems.
• Strong data analysis and interpretation abilities.
• Experience conducting audits and closing audit gaps.
• Competence in systems analysis methodology and driver diagrams.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office suite.
