Outbound Manager – Day Shift (Pharma)

About the role

Dis-Chem’s Midrand distribution centre is seeking an experienced Outbound Manager to lead the day‑shift outbound function for its pharmaceutical operations. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring orders are processed accurately and on time, and maintaining a safe, efficient work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and clean up outbound systems using SAP EWM management tools.
• Plan and implement procedures that maximise operational efficiency and meet daily order‑fulfilment targets.
• Ensure customer orders are processed within 48 hours and wave items are cleared promptly.
• Lead implementation and optimisation of projects aimed at improving outbound performance.
• Maintain all electronic and material‑handling equipment in safe operating condition.
• Forecast and plan department resources to meet strategic objectives.
• Manage seasonal shipments, special packaging, and shelf‑life controls to prevent short‑dated or expired stock dispatch.
• Analyse shrinkage indicators and act to minimise loss.
• Enforce GWP, SHE, and OHS compliance and resolve internal and external queries efficiently.
• Identify and address supplier issues that affect financial targets.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
• Minimum 5 years experience in distribution, logistics or supply‑chain environments.
• Experience in retail or pharmaceutical supply chains is advantageous.
