Occupational Health Nurse

About the role

Glencore is seeking an Occupational Health Nurse to lead its occupational health service at the Emalahleni site in Mpumalanga. The role ensures compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and supports employee wellbeing through medical surveillance and wellness initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, maintain and monitor a legally compliant medical surveillance program.
• Conduct pre‑employment, pre‑placement and exit medical examinations.
• Run the Chronic Disease Management Program, providing coaching and awareness.
• Assist in diagnosing and managing occupational diseases and injuries.
• Lead health promotion campaigns and contribute to the Group Wellness Steering Committee.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in General Nursing.
• Occupational Health qualification.
• Registered professional nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) and member of SASOHN.
• Valid Code EB (08) driver’s licence.
• Minimum 2 years of occupational health experience.

Required skills

• Certificate in Spirometry, Audiometry and Vision testing.
• Certificate in HIV counselling and testing (advantageous).
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• Familiarity with Q‑MED and mining industry health practices (advantageous).
