Municipal Manager – Fixed-Term (5-year)

About the role

The Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality is seeking a Municipal Manager on a five-year fixed-term contract to provide strategic leadership and oversee the delivery of municipal services in line with the Integrated Development Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the municipality in accordance with Section 55 of the Municipal Systems Act, providing ethical and strategic direction.
• Act as Accounting Officer, responsible for all income, expenditure, assets and liabilities of the municipality.
• Manage the provision of sustainable and equitable services to the community.
• Oversee staff recruitment, training, discipline and labour relations.
• Advise and communicate with political structures and implement their decisions.
• Represent the municipality at provincial and national forums and facilitate community participation.

Required profile

• Minimum five years’ senior management experience with a proven record of institutional transformation.
• Relevant degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Social Sciences, Law or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Knowledge of Municipal Finance Management Act, Municipal Systems Act and related legislation.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking and ability to innovate.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
