Mechanical Project Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Project Manager to join our I&J Trawling Division in the Waterfront, Cape Town. You will lead the planning, execution and close‑out of mechanical projects on board our vessels, ensuring quality, budget and schedule compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Define project scope, budget and tender documentation; evaluate quotes and allocate winning tenders.
• Develop detailed project plans, stakeholder analysis and quality control processes.
• Coordinate daily project meetings, monitor costs and schedules, and manage project team assets.
• Oversee commissioning, re‑commissioning and ensure all documentation and QCP records are completed.
• Handle variation orders, communicate cost deviations and ensure contractor payments and final reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in project management within ship repair.
• Preferably 4 years’ experience in marine engineering project management.
• Grade 12 / Matric and a degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• National Technical Certificate in Mechanical or Marine Engineering (Class 2 Unlimited) preferred.
• Project Management certification advantageous.
