Mechanical Maintenance Operator (Grade 2)

About the role

Sasol is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Operator to join its Secunda Operations team. You will support the Mechanical Maintenance department by ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and sustainability through routine maintenance and troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Apply and maintain safety standards in the work environment.
• Participate in root‑cause analyses and provide feedback to RCA teams.
• Execute planned maintenance tasks and attend daily morning briefings.
• Report work progress to supervisors and customers.
• Maintain good housekeeping and follow waste‑disposal procedures.
• Identify equipment faults using appropriate methods to maximise availability.
• Attend training courses, seminars and toolbox talks to improve competency.
• Perform plant inspections and repairs to ensure equipment reliability.
• Capture accurate maintenance history for renewals, upgrades and critical spare replacement.

Required profile

• Matric/N3 qualification with Maths, English and Physical Science.
• CHIETA NQF Level 2 in Mechanical (Level 4 preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of relevant mechanical maintenance experience.
• Valid driver’s licence.
