Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for creating, drafting and designing product layouts for industrial and water‑tube boilers based on customer specifications. The role involves testing prototypes, analysing failures and implementing improvements for future designs.

Key responsibilities

• Thermal design of boilers and associated equipment.
• Pressure‑part design and detailed design of boiler components.
• Specification of purchased equipment for industrial water‑tube boiler installations.
• Approve and assume engineering accountability for drawings issued by the Design/Drawing Office.
• Participate in the full project lifecycle – tendering, quotations, execution, commissioning and after‑sales support.
• Conduct product testing and assess design feasibility.
• Review defunct products to identify root causes and drive design enhancements.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in the boiler or related industrial sector.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical parts and at least 3 years of relevant experience in an industrial environment.
