Management Accountant – Hybrid (Cape Town)

About the role

This position is for a Management Accountant who will own management accounting and costing for a South African subsidiary of a global healthcare and FMCG group. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will work closely with senior leadership and support operational business partnering.

Key responsibilities

• Manage inventory costing, component back‑flushing, standard costing maintenance and Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system.
• Perform month‑end general ledger close procedures, reconciliations and variance analysis across COGS and gross profit margins.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and group financial reporting packages.
• Develop cash‑flow forecasting models, ratio and profitability analyses, and provide monthly financial performance insights for executive decision‑making.
• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns and draft Annual Financial Statements in compliance with IFRS.
• Maintain the fixed asset register, controlling additions, disposals, depreciation and related reconciliations.

Required profile

• BCom degree in Accounting or Finance with 3–5 years’ management accounting experience in FMCG, manufacturing or distribution.
• Professional qualifications such as CGMA, AGA(SA) or PA(SA) are highly advantageous.
• Practical experience managing inventory costing, standard costing and BOMs.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, variance analysis, internal controls and statutory compliance.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with ERP systems such as Syspro, Sage, Evolution or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
