Maintenance Technician – Guest Services (Cape Town)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Maintenance Technician to join our hospitality team in Cape Town. You will be the first point of contact for guest repair requests, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment through timely preventive and corrective maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and communicate solutions effectively.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room assets, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines; carry necessary equipment such as tools and radios.
• Identify and operate shut‑off valves for equipment and building utilities.
• Maintain inventory, requisition parts and supplies, and log daily activities for shift hand‑over.
• Execute surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood‑trim repairs, and replace light bulbs and A/C filters.
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, plumbing (e.g., unclog drains), electrical components, TVs, and other guestroom items.
• Apply Lockout/Tagout procedures before any maintenance work.
• Perform interior and exterior landscaping repairs, including sprinkler maintenance.
• Enter air‑handler schedules and adjust temperature settings using computer systems.
• Adhere to all safety, security, and company policies, reporting hazards or incidents promptly.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge or willingness to acquire knowledge in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, and energy conservation.
• Ability to work independently, follow detailed procedures, and communicate clearly with guests and team members.
• Physical capability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lb without assistance.
