Maintenance Assistant – Fixed-Term (2 positions)

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant supports artisans in preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, ensuring tools, equipment, and work areas remain safe, operational, and compliant with health, safety, environmental, and food‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and verify that tools are in good working order at the start and end of each shift.
• Provide the correct tools to artisans as needed.
• Grease bearings, clean panels and machines as part of preventive maintenance.
• Check mechanical and electrical connections.
• Blow out machines and perform other routine cleaning tasks.
• Complete assigned preventive‑maintenance work orders.
• Assist artisans during call‑outs and respond to minor building or equipment issues (excluding live or moving equipment).
• Close out EHS near‑miss reports and food‑safety quality issues.
• Maintain a clean workshop and work area after each activity.
• Consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow food‑safety protocols.

Required profile

• High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent.
• At least 12 months of relevant maintenance or industrial support experience.
• Strong awareness of health, safety, environmental, and food‑safety standards.
• Ability to work reliably in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
