M365 (Modern Workspace) L3 Engineer

About the role

Interpath, an international advisory firm with offices across many countries including South Africa, is hiring a Modern Workspace Engineer (L3) for its growing South Africa team. The role supports, engineers and continuously improves the end-user computing environment, focusing on Microsoft 365, endpoint management and workplace technologies. It acts as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues and works within a globally distributed IT function.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 3 support for complex endpoint, operating system and workplace technology issues.
• Act as a senior escalation point for Service Desk teams, owning incidents through resolution and root cause analysis.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Teams and SharePoint Online.
• Manage endpoint environments with Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot and modern device management tools.
• Oversee application deployment, endpoint configuration, patching and update management.
• Implement endpoint security controls, compliance policies and device performance improvements.
• Develop automation and remediation solutions using PowerShell and other tools.
• Contribute to IT projects, documentation, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting and managing enterprise end-user computing environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online administration.
• Good understanding of Entra ID (Azure AD), identity and access management, conditional access and endpoint security.
• Experience managing Windows endpoints, mobile devices, device lifecycle management, patching and update compliance.
• Experience troubleshooting complex issues, performing root cause analysis and acting as a senior escalation point.
• Knowledge of ITIL-based service management processes and enterprise hardware environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to work in a global environment.

Required skills

• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
• Desirable: Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) or similar, and Modern Workplace or endpoint management certifications.
