Life Science Teacher (IEB) – Secondary School, Ruimsig

About the role

Nova Pioneer seeks a dynamic Life Science teacher for its Ruimsig secondary campus, delivering the IEB curriculum through an enquiry‑based approach. The resident teacher will lead classes across multiple grades, mentor apprentice teachers and collaborate with Deans of Instruction to continuously improve practice.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare learners for internal assessments and the IEB National Senior Certificate examinations.
• Deliver engaging, technology‑enhanced lessons that foster inquiry and critical thinking.
• Observe, coach and model effective teaching for new staff.
• Set ambitious goals, provide constructive feedback and use assessment data to refine instruction.
• Participate in weekly feedback meetings, professional development sessions and collaborative committees.
• Communicate regularly with parents and contribute to co‑curricular activities.

Required profile

• B.Ed. in Senior Phase and FET teaching with a Life Sciences specialization.
• Proven experience teaching Life Sciences at FET level within an IEB school.
• Strong knowledge of IEB assessment requirements and curriculum delivery.
• Excellent classroom management, planning and organisational skills.
• Passion for enquiry‑based, student‑centred learning and ability to connect with adolescents.
• SACE registration and a clear criminal record.
