Laboratory Assistant – Kathu

About the role

PathCare is looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join its Kathu branch. The successful candidate will work in a busy specimen reception department, ensuring high standards of ethics, integrity and alignment with PathCare values.

Key responsibilities

• Receipt and processing of specimens
• Distribution of specimens while maintaining acceptable turnaround times
• Specimen preparation for analysis
• Handling of queries and providing telephonic results
• Shipping specimens to reference laboratories

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification
• Registered with the HPCSA as a qualified Laboratory Assistant
• Client‑focused with excellent attention to detail
• Initiative, problem‑solving ability and a positive, flexible attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work under pressure both independently and in a team
• Fluent in English with an understanding of Afrikaans
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Acceptable performance record regarding technical and behavioural competencies

Required skills

• Computer literacy
• Experience using the Meditech shipping batch system
