Laboratory Analyst (Fixed-Term)

About the role

Alfred H Knight, an independent family-owned inspection, analysis and consultancy business serving the metals and minerals, solid fuels and agriculture industries, is hiring four Laboratory Analysts for its Richards Bay laboratory on a six-month fixed-term contract. The role ensures that work follows documented methods and procedures with high accuracy and precision, applying Good Laboratory Practice principles.

Key responsibilities

• Follow documented methods and procedures and report any non-compliance to the Senior Analyst
• Manage assigned workload efficiently and advise the Senior Analyst on recurring technical problems
• Maintain clear, auditable records and process analytical data independently
• Keep results confidential and ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated, reporting faults to the Senior Analyst
• Keep work areas clean, follow health and safety policy and uphold ISO 17025 / SANAS accreditation requirements

Required profile

• Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Science)
• Analytical Chemistry degree or diploma
• Minimum 2 years of analytical laboratory experience
• No criminal record

Required skills

• Good knowledge of ISO 17025 requirements
• Computer literacy
• Good written and verbal communication, attention to detail and ability to work with little supervision
