About the role
We are looking for a Junior Project Development Engineer to join our team in Bellville, Cape Town. The role focuses on the design and financial evaluation of solar and hybrid renewable energy projects, supporting senior developers in delivering client proposals.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual designs for solar and hybrid energy systems.
- Perform detailed costing and simulation for proposed projects.
- Draft electrical single‑line diagrams and site layout drawings.
- Conduct basic feasibility studies, including financial and tariff modelling.
- Analyse energy trading and wheeling transactions to identify optimisation opportunities.
- Research municipal electricity tariff structures and apply them to project designs.
- Assist with technical site inspections and ad‑hoc data analyses.
Required profile
- BEng in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in the renewable energy or electrical engineering sector.
- Interest in renewable energy technologies such as solar, BESS, and wind.
Required skills
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency.
- SketchUp for 3D modelling.
- PV system design and costing.
- Feasibility and financial modelling.
- Tariff modelling and energy trading analysis.
- Electrical single‑line diagram drafting.
- Site layout drawing.
