Junior Mechanical Designer – Port Elizabeth

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Mechanical Designer to join our design team in Port Elizabeth. The role involves creating detailed engineering designs that meet customer specifications while supporting the development of small special‑purpose applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and detail small special‑purpose mechanical applications.
• Develop concept solutions, perform design calculations and conduct FMEAs.
• Carry out machine calculations and finite‑element analysis (FEA) to verify designs.
• Specify components for procurement and prepare design release packages for manufacturing.
• Assist with assembly during the project build phase.
• Collaborate with senior design engineers to ensure compliance with ISO procedures.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and work within budget constraints.

Required profile

• National Diploma or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a design capacity.
• Valid Code 8 driver’s licence.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans; German is an advantage.
• Team‑player with ability to work independently.

Required skills
