Junior Mechanical Designer

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Mechanical Designer to join our design department in Port Elizabeth. You will work closely with senior engineers to develop engineering designs and solutions that meet specific customer requirements and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and detail small special‑purpose applications.
• Identify the most effective design solutions to achieve required specifications.
• Specify components for procurement and create detailed design releases for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with senior design engineers on design development and revisions.
• Produce ECR designs and detailing for fixtures and tools.
• Assist with assembly during the project’s assembly phase.
• Maintain design work within a controlled budget and comply with ISO procedures.

Required profile

• Formal tertiary education: N. Dip or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Valid Code 8 driver’s licence.
• Fluent in English (spoken, read, written) and Afrikaans; German is an advantage.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a design capacity.
• Team player with the ability to use own initiative and suggest cost‑saving opportunities.
