Junior Mechanical Designer

About the role

Jendamark Automation is seeking a Junior Mechanical Designer to join its design department in Port Elizabeth. You will work closely with senior engineers to deliver engineering designs that meet customer specifications while adhering to ISO procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Design and detail small special‑purpose applications and fixtures.
• Develop the most effective design solutions to achieve required specifications.
• Specify components for procurement and prepare design release packages for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with senior design engineers on detailed drawings and ECR (Engineering Change Request) documentation.
• Assist with assembly during the project build phase.
• Produce final designs within a controlled budget environment and suggest cost‑saving opportunities.

Required profile

• National Diploma or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Valid Code 8 driver’s licence.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans (German is an advantage).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a design capacity.
• Competence in concept development, design calculations, and FMEA.
• Experience with machine calculations, FEA, and material specification processes.
