Junior Full Stack Engineer – AI

About the role

A company building the digital infrastructure for grant funding is looking for a Junior Full Stack Engineer to help build its platform, which connects research across 18,000+ funding programmes, offers AI-supported analysis and application drafting, expert review and ongoing grant management. The role sits at the core of the platform, working directly with the CTO in a clean, fast, AI-native environment. It suits an early-career engineer who wants real responsibility and a steep learning curve, with a clear path toward a senior engineering role.

Key responsibilities

• Ship features end-to-end, from backend development through to the user interface, working across React, Node/Express, Postgres and AWS.
• Build the platform's AI pipeline from week one, including prompt engineering, context management and AI evaluations, using tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
• Trace and fix bugs in production using Sentry, CloudWatch and Postgres, and develop strong debugging skills.
• Work closely with the CTO and the grant team to build solutions based on real user problems, with a user-first mindset.
• Receive direct technical mentoring, use code reviews as a learning tool, and gradually take ownership of features and technical problems.

Required profile

• 1-3 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, or recent university graduation with strong technical projects.
• Solid fundamentals in TypeScript and/or JavaScript.
• Curiosity, high self-motivation and comfort receiving feedback.
• Nice to have: first experience with AI tools or LLM APIs, German at B1 level or above, and a side project, open-source contribution or other independently built work.
