IT Support Specialist - Cape Town Head Office

About the role

Takealot Group, a leading South African e-commerce company, is looking for a full-time, on-site IT Support professional to join its Head Office team in Cape Town. The role provides hands-on IT support to the internal staff, keeping the infrastructure running smoothly for a large user base. It suits someone who enjoys solving technical problems and working in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve IT support tickets logged through the help desk system.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and replace hardware such as computers, monitors, printers and scanners.
• Provide "smart hands" assistance to system engineers, including physical work on IT infrastructure.
• Install, configure, patch and manage PC software, and carry out OS re-imaging and software installations.
• Maintain, clean and test IT equipment and peripherals, and manage IT asset tagging and records.
• Manage user accounts, including password resets in Active Directory and Google Workspace, and ensure data backups are met.
• Support video conferencing and A/V equipment, and install patch cabling for phones, servers and switches.
• Document IT procedures and guidelines, and manage vendor relationships for equipment support, maintenance and installation.

Required profile

• A Higher Certificate or Advanced National Certificate in IT/Computing or a related field, with at least three years of dedicated IT support experience; alternatively, six years of relevant experience if no formal qualification is held.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills across IT domains and proven desktop support experience.
• Ownership of reliable personal transport is essential for this on-site role.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems and support for Apple Mac hardware.
• Microsoft Office applications.
• Wireless networks, network printer setup and LANs; basic network security principles.
• Advantageous: A+, N+, or MCSA certification; experience with Honeywell, Zebra and Newland Android devices; industrial environment support.
