Internal Auditor: ICT and Performance Information

About the role

Mmabana, within the North West Provincial Government's Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, is appointing an Internal Auditor (ICT and Performance Information) at Head Office level. The post supports the internal audit function in carrying out information technology audits and performance information audits as part of its approved annual audit plan. It is a permanent appointment at Level 7, with a closing date of 12 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Provide input to the development of audit notification letters for information technology and performance information audits.
• Carry out preliminary surveys of planned audit engagements and gather background information on the audit environments.
• Run interviews, identify symptoms and help set audit objectives and criteria.
• Assist in developing the audit programme and carry out test procedures according to the prescribed audit programme.
• Determine root causes of inadequate management measures, complete work papers and draw conclusions from test results.
• Draft informal audit queries, confirm findings and risk ratings with clients, draft recommendations and compile draft audit reports.
• Follow up on performance audit findings and on previous audit recommendations.

Required profile

• A Grade 12 coupled with a minimum National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor's degree (NQF Level 7) in Internal Audit or Accounting.
• At least 2 years of experience in an internal audit environment, including some in information technology and performance information audit.
• Sound knowledge of the processes, procedures and methodology of IT and performance information audits.
