Deputy Manager: Financial Reporting

About the role

The North West Provincial Government, Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, is appointing a Deputy Manager: Financial Reporting (DMFR/HO/22/2026) at its Mmabana head office. The post manages the foundation's financial reporting function so that financial information is accurate, complete and timely, with effective controls and reliable support for governance, audit and management decisions. It is a permanent appointment with a stated remuneration of R646 256.52 per annum excluding benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting processes.
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in line with applicable standards.
• Review reconciliations, journals, trial balances, suspense accounts and closure processes.
• Coordinate audit evidence and responses and monitor audit action plans.
• Develop financial reporting procedures, controls, registers and standard operating procedures.
• Supervise staff and prepare management reports, variance analyses and governance information.

Required profile

• Recognised bachelor's degree or equivalent in Financial Accounting; postgraduate qualification or professional accounting registration is an advantage.
• Completed SAICA articles is an advantage.
• At least five years' relevant experience, including three years at supervisory or junior-management level.
• A valid driver's licence is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of GRAP, the PFMA, Treasury Regulations and financial systems.
• CaseWare.
• Core competencies include strategic and analytical thinking, financial reporting, people management, attention to detail, planning, problem-solving, compliance management, communication, integrity and deadline management.
