Intermediate IT Infrastructure Engineer (Financial Services)

About the role

We are seeking an Intermediate IT Infrastructure Engineer to join a forward‑thinking financial services organisation in Cape Town. You will own and improve enterprise‑grade infrastructure, spanning cloud platforms, Microsoft technologies, networking, and security, ensuring high availability and performance for critical business systems.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support cloud‑hosted virtual servers and core infrastructure platforms.
• Monitor system availability, performance, storage and overall health; perform patching, upgrades and lifecycle management.
• Support secure network connectivity, VPNs, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching; troubleshoot connectivity issues.
• Administer Windows Server, Windows endpoints, Active Directory, Group Policy and Microsoft 365 services.
• Maintain identity management, MFA, endpoint protection and security best practices.
• Oversee backup processes, disaster‑recovery testing and incident investigation.
• Support SQL Server reporting environments and coordinate with managed service providers.
• Produce technical documentation, runbooks and participate in change‑management activities.

Required profile

• National Diploma or equivalent in IT, Computer Science, Network Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration or network support.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaborate within a technology team.
