Inflight General Catering Assistant

About the role

The Inflight General Catering Assistant is responsible for preparing and plating airline meals to exact specifications. The role ensures that every dish meets quality, weight, and presentation standards while complying with strict food safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Plate all meals according to menu specifications, maintaining correct weight and quality.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and work areas, reporting any defects to management.
• Follow HACCP rules, including personal hygiene, CCP documentation, food storage, hand‑washing, glove, and sickness policies.
• Control portions to avoid over‑production and minimise waste, supporting cost‑effective operations.
• Prepare sample dishes for verification and ensure final plates match approved samples.
• Meet daily box times and complete CCP records accurately and promptly.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• At least 1 year of experience in a kitchen or food‑service environment.
• Ability to follow safety and job instructions precisely.
• Knowledge of standard kitchen equipment, utensils, and measurement techniques.
