About the role

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is seeking a short‑term consultant to carry out the third independent review of the Biodiversity Offset Agreement implemented by Black Mountain Mining Pty Ltd in South Africa. The assignment focuses on assessing compliance, effectiveness and alignment with environmental objectives.

Key responsibilities

Conduct the third independent review of the Biodiversity Offset Agreement for Black Mountain Mining Pty Ltd.
Analyse the implementation against the agreement’s terms, relevant legislation and best‑practice standards.
Prepare a comprehensive report that summarises findings, draws conclusions and provides actionable recommendations.

Required profile

Demonstrated experience in biodiversity offset assessments and environmental monitoring.
Familiarity with climate change and environmental evaluation frameworks.
Ability to work independently, adhere to strict timelines and produce high‑quality deliverables.
