Human Resources Officer – Labour Relations

About the role

The Human Resources Officer – Labour Relations will lead the municipality’s labour relations function, ensuring compliance with labour legislation, collective agreements and council policies. Reporting to the relevant committees, the officer will support management and provide guidance on employee relations matters.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor disciplinary and grievance procedures.
• Provide administrative support and case management for disciplinary and grievance cases.
• Represent the municipality at CCMA and bargaining council conciliation and arbitration hearings.
• Deliver training and guidance on industrial relations processes to staff.
• Prepare and present reports, statistical data and employment equity plans.

Required profile

• A three‑year tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, public administration or a law degree specialising in labour law.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in labour relations or HR.
• Code B driver’s licence.
• Proficiency in at least two official languages of the Western Cape.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with proficiency in Office Applications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

What we offer

• Salary range R347,891.97 – R451,583.05 per annum (Grade T12).

• Probationary period of six months followed by permanent appointment.
