Homeschool Tutor/Facilitator for Neurodivergent 8‑Year‑Old

About the role

The Neurodiversity Centre seeks a dedicated Homeschool Tutor/Facilitator to support an 8‑year‑old neurodivergent learner. Working on‑site in Cape Town, you will adapt a home‑based curriculum to the child’s strengths, interests, and sensory profile, fostering academic progress and functional independence.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver daily lessons in literacy, numeracy, and life‑skills, breaking tasks into manageable steps.
• Integrate visual supports, hands‑on activities, and sensory‑aware strategies.
• Create a calm, predictable learning environment and adjust routines as needed.
• Collaborate closely with caregivers, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to align teaching with therapeutic recommendations.
• Document observations, track progress, and contribute to individualized support plans.

Required profile

• Experience working with neurodivergent children (autism, ADHD, learning differences) in educational or therapeutic settings.
• Ability to individualise support and respond calmly to transitions or distress.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with families and professionals.
• Relevant qualification in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Occupational Therapy assistance, or a related field is highly beneficial.

Required skills

• Lesson planning and curriculum adaptation for primary‑level subjects.
• One‑on‑one instruction and life‑skill coaching.
• Knowledge of child development, social‑emotional learning, and positive behaviour support strategies.
• Capacity to design sensory‑aware, regulated learning environments.
