Health and Wellness Specialist

About the role

The Health and Wellness Specialist will lead the development and implementation of industrial hygiene and occupational health programs, ensuring compliance with South African legislation and corporate standards. This role supports business units by providing expertise, training, and incident management to promote a safe and healthy workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and maintain industrial hygiene and occupational health policies in line with OHS Act, ACGIH, OSHA and other relevant regulations.
• Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments and control measures for noise, chemicals, ergonomics, biological agents and other workplace hazards.
• Advise managers on engineering, administrative and PPE controls to mitigate risks and prevent legal liabilities.
• Design and deliver training and induction programs on industrial hygiene and occupational health requirements.
• Investigate incidents, prepare REX reports and analyse non‑conformance trends to drive corrective actions.
• Manage contracts with hygiene service providers and coordinate with procurement and external stakeholders.
• Oversee occupational health clinics, medical surveillance programmes and health assessments.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of South African OHS legislation, ACGIH and OSHA standards.
• Experience in developing and implementing industrial hygiene and occupational health policies.
• Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations and statistical trend analysis.
• Excellent communication skills for training delivery and stakeholder engagement.
