Head of Global Corporate Banking – South Africa & Sub‑Saharan Africa

About the role

J.P. Morgan is seeking a Managing Director to lead Global Corporate Banking across South Africa and the broader Sub‑Saharan region. Reporting to the CEEMEA Head of Global Corporate Banking, you will shape and execute the client strategy, expanding the bank’s footprint and delivering best‑in‑class service to corporate, financial institution and public‑sector clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team covering local corporates, financial institutions and public‑sector clients.
• Act as the primary contact for C‑suite and senior treasury executives of key clients.
• Develop regional treasurer‑level coverage and originate banking relationships across flow and episodic products.
• Define and drive the growth strategy for Global Corporate Banking in South Africa and Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Collaborate with Global Investment Banking, Payments, Markets and other product groups to cross‑sell and deepen client relationships.
• Partner with sector heads, client executives and senior country officers on client onboarding and coverage.

Required profile

• Strong partnership mindset with proven ability to collaborate across product and stakeholder groups.
• Extensive client‑relationship experience at senior levels, with a track record of winning new business and closing transactions.
• Deep knowledge of banking regulations and policies in South Africa and Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experienced people manager capable of leading cross‑cultural teams.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
• Commercial acumen, sound judgment and solid credit and ESG expertise.
