Handyman

About the role

The Capital Hotels is hiring a full-time, permanent handyman in Sandton, Gauteng. The role covers maintenance issues logged during a shift and given verbally, across security, pools, grounds, hotel rooms and any other hotel area. It involves general DIY and maintenance such as basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating.

Key responsibilities

• Resolve maintenance issues logged during a shift and received by verbal instruction
• Cover areas of responsibility including security, pools, grounds, hotel rooms and other parts of the hotel
• Carry out general DIY and maintenance, including basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating

Required profile

• Matric
• 1 to 2 years of previous handyman or maintenance experience
• Additional qualifications in the field are advantageous (salary dependent)
• Relocation costs are at your own expense if you live outside the city where the hotel is located

• Hands-on problem solving and staying calm under pressure
• Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
• Effective communication with staff and guests
• Attention to detail, honesty and trustworthiness
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and jobs at once

Salary: R5,500 to R7,500 per month.
