Guest Relations Officer - Hospitality

About the role

The Capital Hotels is looking for a Guest Relations Officer for its Umhlanga hotel in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The post sits within the Rooms Division Department and covers supervision and control of all guest services and administration of guest service tasks, including maximising accommodation, conference and food and beverage revenue to meet forecasts. General front office duties are also part of the job.

Required profile

• Matric
• Hospitality Management qualification or similar; previous guest relations experience is essential
• Relevant hospitality management qualification is advantageous
• Customer service driven, with outstanding communication and active listening skills
• Friendly, courteous and service-oriented, honest and trustworthy
• Attention to detail, professional appearance and well-spoken
• Team player who leads by example, proactive, with leadership and interpersonal skills

Required skills

• Problem-solving approach and the ability to stay calm under pressure
• Experience with an HMS system (Protel advantageous)
• Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
• Effective communication with hotel staff and guests
