Guest Relations Officer

About the role

The Capital Hotels is hiring a Guest Relations Officer for its Umhlanga hotel in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The post sits within the Rooms Division Department and covers supervision and control of all guest services and administration of guest service tasks, including front office duties. The role aims to grow accommodation, conference and food and beverage revenue to meet forecasts.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and control all guest services and administer guest service-related tasks
• Maximise and grow accommodation, conference and food and beverage revenue to achieve forecasts
• Perform general front office duties as part of the Rooms Division

Required profile

• Matric
• Hospitality Management qualification or similar; previous Guest Relations experience is essential
• Able to stay calm under pressure and solve problems hands-on
• Customer service driven, with strong communication and active listening skills
• Friendly, courteous and service-oriented, honest and trustworthy
• Attention to detail, professional appearance and well-spoken
• Team player who leads by example, proactive, with leadership and interpersonal skills

Required skills

• Experience with an HMS system (Protel advantageous)
• Communication with both hotel staff and guests

Relocation costs are at your own expense if you live outside the city where the hotel is located. The salary is R12,000 to R15,000 per month.
