General Manager – Guest House (Live‑in) – North Coast, Cape Town

About the role

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead an established guest house on the North Coast of Cape Town. This live‑in, full‑time position offers the chance to shape guest experiences, oversee daily operations, and contribute to the long‑term success of a boutique hospitality property.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of guest‑house operations, ensuring high standards of service from arrival to departure.
• Manage reservations, occupancy, and front‑office activities.
• Supervise housekeeping, maintenance, and any on‑site food‑service functions.
• Recruit, train, motivate and evaluate staff across multiple departments.
• Control inventory, purchasing, supplier relationships and operational expenses.
• Prepare daily cash‑ups, financial reports and handle administrative duties.
• Address guest feedback promptly and resolve complaints professionally.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and hospitality regulations.
• Identify and implement improvements to boost guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• 3–5 years proven experience as a Guest House, Lodge or Boutique Hotel Manager or a similar hospitality leadership role.
• Strong leadership, communication and customer‑service abilities.
• Good financial, budgeting and administrative competence.
• Ability to manage multiple departments simultaneously and work independently on‑site.
• Highly organised, trustworthy and self‑motivated, with a willingness to live on the property.

Required skills

• Proficiency with booking systems.
• Microsoft Office.
