Functional Consultant (HR) – Workday

About the role

A global investment advisory firm focused on long-term value creation is hiring a Functional Consultant (HR) in Cape Town, advertised by recruiter Parvana. The role acts as the main point of contact for the global People team, supporting the implementation and day-to-day use of the HRIS (Workday). The position is permanent and hybrid, with three days in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for People system queries, resolve issues including data and process errors, and provide training and documentation for the global People team.
• Oversee system workflows and integrations, manage payroll input validation, ensure data quality through regular reporting, and keep operational documentation up to date.
• Carry out routine updates such as access roles and calendars, manage process templates like onboarding and offer letters, and support system enhancement requests.
• Prepare and support major annual events such as compensation cycles, performance reviews and employee surveys by building dashboards and templates and giving real-time user support.
• Support the implementation and testing of the global HRIS (Workday), draft Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), manage test plans and help identify process improvements.

Required profile

• Experience in systems or operational support, preferably in HR/People Operations.
• Familiarity with the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, payroll and performance management.
• Able to turn user feedback into structured solutions, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Highly organised, curious and able to work independently and within a global team; a background in regulated environments such as private equity or asset management is ideal.

Required skills

• Hands-on HRIS knowledge (Workday preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
