Fleet Supervisor (Freight Forwarding Operations)

About the role

Africa Global Logistics South Africa (AGL) is looking for a permanent, full-time Fleet Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day management of its transport fleet operations. The role ensures vehicle availability, compliance, driver performance, cost control, fleet utilization and operational efficiency, while maintaining high standards of safety and service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily fleet operations to maximise vehicle availability and utilisation
• Manage vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections and repairs, and arrange repairs when needed
• Ensure compliance with road transport legislation, company policies and safety standards
• Monitor fuel consumption, tyre performance and other fleet costs
• Investigate incidents and accidents, complete accident/incident reports with the driver, and keep accurate driver and vehicle records
• Keep all licences, permits and vehicle documents current and compliant
• Monitor telematics and tracking systems, including daily panic alert checks
• Prepare fleet performance reports, KPI dashboards and management updates
• Coordinate with workshop, operations, procurement and transport teams, and drive continuous improvement to cut costs and raise productivity
• Handle on-route breakdowns and roadside assistance, and monitor vehicle fines
• Keep vehicles presentable and clean, and manage vehicle master data across platforms

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience managing drivers and fleet activities (minimum 5 years of relevant experience stated)
• Valid driver's licence and PDP licence; a valid Code 14 licence is advantageous
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills

Required skills

• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices and transport compliance requirements
• Ability to analyse data and generate reports
• Experience with fleet management systems, telematics and Microsoft Office
