Fire BIM Modeller

About the role

Our client, an established consulting engineering practice, is seeking an experienced Fire BIM Modeller to join their building services team in Cape Town. The role focuses on fire protection system modelling and coordination across commercial and public‑sector projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed BIM models for fire protection systems, including sprinkler layouts, hydraulic design, smoke detection, and gas suppression systems.
• Coordinate fire system models with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines to identify and resolve clashes.
• Produce accurate 2D drawings, schedules and documentation from 3D models in line with project and company standards.
• Ensure models comply with relevant fire codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with fire engineers, design teams and other consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support the preparation of construction documentation and tender packages.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in draughting, engineering, or a related built‑environment field.
• Minimum 5 years BIM modelling experience with exposure to fire protection or MEP systems.
• Strong proficiency in Revit (essential); Navisworks experience advantageous.
• Solid understanding of fire protection design principles and coordination requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work across multidisciplinary project teams.
